SPOILERS. like it is possible to spoil. Very dark film, didn't they have electricity back then? The last scene, all those policemen in weird uniform storming the artists house, I wonder how they didn't step on each other's hats, made me laugh. just like some modern cop flik. (1944) Apparently shot in 6 days and starring John Carradine (father of David 'kung fu' Carradine). This has been quoted as being John's favourite role, and this nice guy/serial killer is certainly a meaty character to portray. I just found the whole thing a little dull, but well acted. 1h 10mins. This print seems to be a VHS transfer, but it's not too bad. Video 8 Sound 8.
