This is the only Shirley Temple film I have watched from start to end and I found it quite enjoyable. Sara's father goes off to fight the Boers in S. Africa and little Sara ends up in an upper class boarding school. She makes friends with little Becky the servant girl and with some very nice adults who are able to help later on in her time of trouble. This begins when her father is reported dead and that he died bankrupt because the Boer goverment had seized all his assets. So she ends up working as a servant at the boarding school to pay off her debts. Meanwhle she refuses to believe that her father is dead and searches among the war wounded in the hospitals for her father. This movie also stars a couple of my favorite English actors (Richard Greene and Arthur Treacher, the first from the old tv series Robin Hood and the latter as the sidekick to Merv Griffin). There are only a couple of musical numbers by Shirley and Arthur Treacher but they are very well done, especially the dream sequance production. Little Sara and little Becky are cuter than a shoe box full of kittens and give very good performances. The costumes and set designs are very well done and shows that this was a big budget film for its time. In the search for her father Sara gets some help from a very surprising source. This movie is a real tear jerker and I actually felt my own eyes tearing up a little ( this could of been caused by the smoke from a raging brush fire just north of town). The audio and video quality of the download was top notch. 10/10
