Kong Island. Well. What can I say? Errrr.....King Kong is not in it. The action does not seem to take place on an island. Not a good start... The basis for the confusing plot is that a mercenary, Burt, returns to his old stomping ground to settle an outstanding grudge against some of his previous comrades. In town he takes up with the daughter of an old flame and is then forced into a rushed rescue mission when said girl is carried off by some gorillas whilst on a hunt. Little does Burt realise that the same score he is trying to settle is using the girl as bait to trap him. Confused yet? The story is jumbled and barely coherent at times and you would be forgiven for thinking most of the film is spent admiring wildlife whilst traipsing through the jungle. This is because it is. Throw in a strange native girl known as "The Sacred Monkey", and radio controlled gorillas hooked up to half a brain mounted on a cave wall and you know this film is going to have problems! Kong Island; it should not bear the name Kong but will pass 90 or so minutes relatively painlessly. Just don't start with high hopes!
