An interesting but ultimately unsatisfying variant on the old Jeckyll-Hyde formula, with Bela Lugosi playing against type as a truly sympathetic character (despite the murderous habits of his subconscious). Lugosi's a much better actor than he's usually given credit for, and this movie gives you a chance to see a side of him you rarely did. With that said, Invisible Ghost fails to come together into anything resembling a coherent plot, with some completely bogus story points (are we really expected to believe that no one but the addled chauffeur ever looked in the basement for X-number of years to find the missing-presumed-dead wife?), unintentionally comic stock characters (you'll notice the police inspector spends the entire movie chomping on a cigar that's never lit!), subplots that end up going nowhere (the male lead is wrongfully executed for the murders, only to come back as his own twin brother... and do precisely *nothing* to clear his late sibling's name), and a climax that's painfully predictable. Lugosi fans will want to check this one out, as will devotees of Le Bad Cinema. All others, caveat downloador.
