A very well done documentary. It shows the training and preparation of the U.S. task force prior to the invasion of the Japanese held island of New Britain in the south pacific. The combat footage shot during the operation is excellent. What really struck me the most, was that this is not one of your usual gung-ho type of war propaganda films. There is very little heroics or flag waving but portrays war as it is ( a very unpleasant and dirty task ). The film shows footage of American and Japanese soldiers dead, wounded or dying. The film shows the planning of the operation plus gives information about the various types of landing craft and machinery used in establishing a beach head. As I have said before, I thought that the film was very well done and I would recommend it. The a/v quality of the download was good.
