(1944)A run-of-the-mill 60 minute 2-plot action adventure on board the cramped confines of a rusty freighter. The leading man is played by Robert Lowery who is on his way to collect an inheritance. He reminded me of Robert Mitchum, perhaps because this role of film noir is the sort of thing I would expect Mitchum to play. The female lead is Phyllis Brooks, who is very attractive (being a model), who's character is strong and not fazed by peril. I rather liked the shady character played by Charles Arnt, enjoying all of his screen time. It has been said that this character is heavily based on Sidney Greenstreet's Kasper Gutman, but he reminded me of someone else - who escapes me. This print has many missing frames which meant some dialogue is missed, which is most irritating. The low budget of this film is obvious from the limited number of players & sets and sometimes it shows, breaking the illusion. Video 5 / Sound 7. Okay for film noir fans, others should move on.
