An excellent horror featuring the always fantastic duo of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. A sort of turn of the century european monster zombie movie. Very strange in parts but definitely worth a viewing.

This movie's so bad it's good. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee turn in credible performances on par with their Hammer horror films, and Telly "Kojak" Savalas is quite amusing as he blusters in and out of the story. As "B" movies go, this one might just qualify for an "A-minus".

great movie! some weirdness, some gore, some athmosphere! this was a real chiller when I was young, and even today it's fun watching. maybe best dialogue ever heard in horrorfilms: "Everyone could be the beast." - "Sir, we're british!"

Definitely agree with the "so bad it's good" sentiment. Coincidentally, that is part of the title of my post on The Horror Express where I review it and post a few interesting clips: http://www.roosterflix.com/2008/07/horror-express-1973-so-bad-its-good.html

You have to get this movie. It is so awful that it would fry your brains were it not for two outstanding features. Firstly, the "horror twins" Cushing and Lee manage once again to produce a po-faced, masterly performance which makes the bizarre and senseless going-ons seem almost believable. Secondly, Telly Savalas puts in one of the most hilarious, over-the-top performances I have ever seen. He does it with gusto and energy and he obviously enjoys playing the utterly ludicrous part assigned to him. Worth watching just to see his comeuppance.
