Death Rage (1976) {Con la rabbia agli occhi} or {Anger in His Eyes}. Yul Brynner is in his last starring role as a retired US mob hit man lured to make a hit on a mobster in Naples because he is told this guy killed his brother. Brynner's character, Peter Marciani, suffers from a stress related temporary blindness, but unfortunately this weakness is not fully explored [Blind Rage might have been a more appropriate alternate title]. Barbara Bouchet is the pretty leading lady, but she is mostly under used. There are a couple of scenes of very brief topless & full frontal nudity. The only other actor worth mentioning is Massimo Ranieri who reminded me of Michael J Fox, in this he plays Angelo, a keen race fixer, who wants to go places. He manages to convince Peter that he is of use to him, and gets taken in under the more experienced man's wing. The setting of Napoli really helps bring this picture up from being very mediocre, but the dubbing of many of the Italians with an American accent just confuses who is supposed to be who. This print is quite good, just a little clipped at the sides, so Video 9 / Sound 9. Run time is just under 85 minutes, so this is not the heavily censored item; it may well be the full version as there is confusion if there really is a 98 minute version. For me this is a 'keeper', because of the filming location, Brynner and the reasonable quality of the print. In the cold light of day this is an average mobster movie that is worth a watch just in case you find it is more than just the sum of its parts.
