Yet another spin on the classic Frankenstein tale, Lady Frankenstein follows the creation of Frankenstein's original monster and the more refined model produced by the eponymous Lady Frankenstein, daughter of Doctor Frankenstein. Probably extremely shocking in its day, this film features grave robbing, murder, a particularly ugly monster and a few scenes of gratuitous nudity. Lady Frankenstein herself is a cross between Lady Macbeth, the mad professor and a sex-crazed nymphette; her motivating factor for creation of a second monster seems to be purely for her own sexual needs and so he is blessed with a good physique AND a good brain. And Lady Frankenstein is not below incest to further her dream man. This film seems to take forever to get started as it spends so long retreading the original Frankenstein story. There is no denouement so to speak of and all seems rather formulaic bar the original monsters random forays into murder. A time filler with an attractive lead.

Good production values, fairly coherent story. Parts of this movie border on softcore porn in the way that many Italian sci-fi and horror movies of the era do. If you're a fan of such things, you'll probably like this, otherwise you'll probably hate it.

I love this movie, but I had to comment about the previous poster's assertion that it was "probably extremely shocking in its day". We're talking about the 70s. I was there. Moviegoers were far LESS shocked by stuff back then; we've become a very prudish society in the last 30 years. Almost every drive-in film had gratuitous nudity in the 70s, even the PG rated ones, and it was no big deal.
