This is an enjoyable suspense mystery yarn set during the Civil War. I liked Joe Don Baker's performance, and well as a brief appearance my one of my favorite character actors, Slim Pickens. I was also pleased to hear a favorite song of mine performed by The Band. This is a good copy of the film, sharp with good color, but it seems to have been formated for TV, with certain words deleted. You just need to read their lips, to know what they've said, so that's not a real concern.

I was a little disappointed in this movie, although I did enjoy Slim Pickens' cameo as "Virgil Kane," an obvious tie-in to "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". It was definitely not Joe Don Baker's most memorable role, and very likable as a lead character. The concluding plot twist, if you could call it that, was pretty implausible.
