(1961)Orazi e Curiazi / Horatio. Alan Ladd plays Horatio, one of three brothers and fellow Roman soldiers. However due to the fog of war during a battle, Horatio is laid unconscious during a tactical manoeuvre and captured by the Albans. Word gets back to Rome that he fled the battlefield and he is branded a coward in his absence. A prophecy is announced that will end the war once and for all, three brother Romans must battle three brother Albans to the death, and the winning side wins the war. Horatio and Rome must reconcile their differences if Rome is to stand a chance. Well I quite like this film, Alan Ladd had a world & war weary presence, which may have been at least partly due to personal reasons, but for me it seemed to work. The battle scenes mostly consisted of close ups of clashing swords on horseback , and there are some clunky love tussle plots which slow the pace down, and for the life of me, I do not see how the first brother got killed, I watched that scene a few times just to check if I missed something. The musical score is excellent, some people have said too good for this movie, but unfortunately in this print the sound is a bit intermittent, particularly in the first half, and the colour washes in and out all the way through. Video 6 / Sound 6.
